Thoughts on my Stairway to Heaven rewatch so far 👀:The old tropes of amnesia, evil stepmom, and crazy second female lead are indeed hard to watch — but somehow the show makes it work because the actors make it all believable. This show popularized tropes that continue to influence kdramas today, even if the tropes feel more subversive or modern in newer shows.Episodes 1-4 (or the first act) are a master class in how kdrama writing has worked for a long time. You get all the juicy setup and emotionally compelling character backstories here and it’s quite satisfying how the show does this.“Broken, grieving man chases after ghost of ex-girlfriend and commits white-collar crime” (inspired by how my friend described it) is mostly the premise for episodes 5-6. 😂We’re getting to the parts of the story that I don’t remember, so I’m excited to see if it continues to keep up the pace despite me knowing how it all ends. 🤩***
